Sindh IGP takes notice of suicide of a LUMHS student

HYDERABAD: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kaleem Imam has taken notice of the media reports about alleged suicide of a student of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, and directed DIG Hyderabad Naeem Shaikh on Friday to submit report.

On the directives of IGP, SSP Jamshoro district Touqeer Muhammad Naeem constituted an inquiry team headed by DSP Jamshoro Nazar Muhammad.

SHO Jamshoro police station Ashfaq Mangi told that the team visited the hostel room where 21 years old Muhammad Atif Arain, a 3rd year MBBS student, was found shot dead.

He said the team recorded statements of the family, the students and the inmates.

The blood samples of the deceased, mobile phone and the pistol recovered with the body had been sent for the forensic test, he added.

Meanwhile, LUMHS also formed a separate inquiry committee headed by Prof Ferozuddin Kalhoro. The committee would submit report to the Vice Chancellor.
