HYDERABAD: The three days long Sindh University “Model United Nations” (MUN) conference organized by Bureau of STAGS concluded on Sunday night at Allam I.I. Kaim Campus Jamhoro.
The university spokesman said here on Monday that the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat presided over the concluding session of the conference.
Delivering his presidential remarks, the vice chancellor said the University of Sindh has become a vibrant hub of positive student activities and the management has been engaged to promote curricular and extra-curricular activities including sports, debates, cultural festivals, poetry competitions, and concerts, trips, tours, picnics, social events, and exhibitions to provide healthy atmosphere to students.
He said the university was organizing MUN conference since last two years considering it an excellent platform for students to reflect, critically think, analyze, speak, argue and listen as well as develop confidence, cognitive skills, deliberate and to deliver their views.
The vice chancellor said that during conference sessions he remained interacted with the student delegates simulating UN roles through a whole lot of UN committees and found them obtaining awareness of global issues, deliberating on world disputes, developing practical skills and other healthy activities.
Scholar Ali Nawaz Memon who was the chief guest of the conference hoped that various committee sessions designed in simulated form on the pattern of various UN committees must have fetch the conference participants, attitude-patterns, insights, skills and world-views that would in the long run, shape them into outstanding statesmen, international envoys and top-rank pleaders with positions that will enable them to represent Pakistan influentially at diverse world forums.
Earlier, Director STAGS and SUMUN patron Dr. Sumera Umrani highlighted the objective of organizing the conference.
The out-stationed delegates who had joined the conference from various universities of the country and the directors, assistant directors of different committees and session-chair heads also registered their reflections on the occasion.
The event concluded on an impressive award distribution ceremony in which appreciation certificates and shields were given away to the executive board, advisory board and executive council members and also to the conveners of multiple other committees constituted for the momentous moot.
