KARACHI: Sixty-eight fishermen, who were allegedly fishing in the Pakistani territorial waters were released today from Malir Jail here.
It is pertinent to mention here that Arabian Sea border is not clearly defined and most of the fishing boats lack the navigational gadgets, hence fishermen from both countries land in jails accused of trespassing.
Presently some 380 Indian fishermen are languishing in jails here. Number of Pakistani fishermen in Indian jail is very small yet sources insinuate that their families starve in their absence.
On the contrary Indian Govt as well as the owners of fishing boats provide assistance to the imprisoned fishermen’s families.
