ZINTAN (Libya): Saif-al-Islam, the 53-year-old Heir Apparent of Col. Muammar Gaddafi (who was assassinated during the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011), has been shot dead by a 4-man commando unit at his home here on Tuesday (3rd Feb, 2026).
According to his political advisor Abdullah Otham, the masked quartet destroyed the surveillance systems installed at Saif-al-Islam Gaddafi’s house here (situated 140 km from Tripoli) and stormed in to murder him. Saif-al-Islam did engage them in a direct confrontation but failed to save himself.
