Southport girls’ murderer jailed for 52 years

LONDON: The teenager, Axel Rudakubana (18), who had last July fatally stabbed three girls [Bebe King (6), Elsie Dot Stancombe (7)and Alice da Silva Aguiar (9) on 29th July last year], has been incarcerated for 52 years here on Thursday (23rd Jan, 2025).

Judge Julian Goose noted: “What he did on the 29th of July last year has caused such shock and revulsion to the whole nation that it must be viewed as being at the very extreme level of crime.” Rudakubana admitted a total of 16 charges, including the 3 counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and 1 count of possessing a knife. It may be recalled that due to misinformation alleging that the attacker was a Muslim asylum seeker riots broke out in many towns and towns. 

On 5th August 2024 PM Keir Starmer chaired a Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBRA) meeting to ponder over the far-right riots across England.The violence, that commenced in Southport, spread allover the country. In this, England’s worst rioting in 13 years, several Police Officers were injured. Scores of rioters (who attacked Mosques, set vehicles and properties belonging to the Muslim community on fire and looted their stores) have been taken into custody.
