KARACHI: Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) in collaboration with the National Technology Council (NTC) held a Curriculum Launching Ceremony for Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering Technology.
Chairman NTC, Imtiaz Hussain Gilani briefed about the future of the technology sector in Pakistan focusing on infrastructure, human capital development, technology curricula.
He said that the curriculum of Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering Technology is a pioneer work.
We developed 20 curricula with the help of professional experts from all provinces in collaboration with different universities.
The curriculum is according to the Sydney Accord.
He further stated that engineers and technologists must be kept in separate categories.
The skill component is entirely different from the knowledge component.
Engineers are more theoretical, analytical, and design-oriented while engineering technologists are more hands-on and applications-oriented.
There are 3 active players in the engineering discipline – Engineers, Engineering Technologists, and Engineering Technicians which make a family tree of engineering.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor SSUET Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that the think tanks all over the world are taken from the universities.
Realizing the importance of collaboration, Sir Syed University has a strong linkage with other private and public universities.
Youth plays an important role in the growth of the country developing an ideal society.
They must be groomed and trained in such a way that they can solve the problems of our society.
They must come up with innovative ideas and help in product development.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Registrar Commodore (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali said that engineering and technology are two distinct disciplines.
Technology is the practical application of scientific knowledge to serve a specific purpose.
Technologists play a crucial role in ensuring the proper and effective function of technologies.
Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir, and Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Architecture, Prof. Dr. Mir Shabbar also spoke on the occasion.
The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, Registrar Commodore (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Deans, Chairpersons, and faculty members, including representatives from other universities like Dr. Johar Ali, Vice Chancellor of Usman Institute of Technology, Dr. Zafar Nasir, Vice Chancellor of Indus University, Dr. Bilal Alvi, Vice Chancellor of Nazeer Hussain University, NED University, Prof. Dr. S. Nazeer Alam of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. H. M. Zahid Hussain Tunio of Dawood University, Prof. Dr. Fahad Azim of Ziauddin University, Prof. Dr. Engr.
