Sunscreen and Sunblock

SANA MAHMOOD

Sunblock reflects the sun-rays away and completely stops the light from entering the skin. Usually Zinc oxide or titanium oxide is added as reflective particles.

Some time ago it was easy to point out who was wearing the sunblock. But today sunblocks are not visible because the reflective particles used are very finely grinded. However, the conventional white zinc oxide is still available.

Sunscreen filters the light just like a door screen. It combines organic and inorganic chemicals ensuring that very little of it reaches the deepest layers of skin.  Sunblock is often used in sunscreen as an active ingredient.
