Terror alert: TTP likely to target key politicians in Punjab

RAWALPINDI: Law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure foolproof security of important political personalities, including Punjab governor and chief minister, following threats of attacks by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliated groups.

According to a Punjab govt official, a terror alert was issued to the police and other law enforcement agencies informing that an ally group of TTP, Shaharyar Mehsud group has planned to target political personalities in the province.

The forces have also been directed to conduct combing operations continually, besides heightening security of sensitive installations, buildings, and schools.
