Thari students sweep 7 top positions in SBTE Exams

HYDERABAD: Youth from one of the most backward districts of Pakistan, Tharparkar makes it marked by an unprecedented achievement during Sindh Board of Technical Education Exam as seven out of the top ten positions including the top two positions were secured by the fellows from Thar Associate Engineer Programme (TAEP).

According to announcement here on Sunday, fully sponsored by Engro Powergen Thar Limited (EPTL) and currently studying at Technical Training Centre Daharki, the 95 percent of the TAEP fellows also secured A+ grades.

According to the board results, first position was secured by Laleet Devdas from Mithi with 956 marks, second by Suhel Kumar Mehendro Mal of Diplo with 950 marks, 4th by Partab Singh Kessar Singh of Mithi with 938 marks, 7th by Jaswant Chhagan Lal from Mithi with 932 marks, 8th by Ladha Ram Karman from Nagarparkar with 931 marks, 9th jointly by Ayaz Amirudin of Dahli and Jodh Singh Sawai Singh of Chachro with 930 marks and 10th position jointly by Tarachand Debo of Chachro and Utam Harji of Diplo Talukas with 929 marks.

Congratulating the entire batch of TAEP, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Engro Energy Limited (EEL) Ahsan Zafar Syed said that it is a proud moment for the company and for entire Thar.

The fellows’ relentless hard work has yielded the results and the pride they have brought to their families and people of Tharparkar, he said.

The first position holder, Laleet thanked Engro Powergen Thar Ltd for giving the platform, which has enabled to showcase our potential. “This platform can change the landscape of Thar as it provides promising youngster from our region with an opportunity to develop themselves and reach their potential and for someone like me,” he said.

Suhel Kumar was of the view that under TAEP programme, he has an opportunity to fulfill his dreams. “The youth of Tharparkar can benefit from this programme and contribute to the prosperity of Thar and Pakistan,” he said.

In continuous efforts for a prosperous Thar, Thar Foundation is steering a three years Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) programme for eligible Thari candidates on 100 percent scholarship by EPTL.

The objective of this programme is to prepare candidates for technical employment opportunities at Thar Coal and future projects. EPTL is sponsoring a batch of 30 young Thari students to undertake this comprehensive programme in a reputable technical institute at Daharki and under registration with Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE).
