Together, we will overcome Coronavirus: US Envoy Paul Jones (Video and Text)

ISLAMABAD: Envoy Paul Jones in his Eid-ul-Fitr message has stated that US-Pakistan would jointly overcome Coronavirus and build a healthy, prosperous future for the people of both countries.

“Assalam Alaikum, Eid Mubarak!

As you prepare special Eid dishes for your families in your kitchens like one of my favorite desserts, Kheer, would like to congratulate Pakistanis on the completion of Ramazan on behalf of all of us at the US Mission to Pakistan.

We admire those who fasted and helped others during Ramazan while looking forward to the joyous celebration of Eid. I’ve always been impressed with the incredible generosity of Pakistanis who give to the less fortunate, especially during Ramazan ad Eid.

US Envoy Message 1“Americans are sending Eid Mubarak wishes – as shown in this picture my wife took in Providence, Rhode Island,” Paul Jones.

We wish everyone a safe and healthy time that includes special precautions to keep everyone free of coronavirus. The US-Pakistan health partnership against coronavirus has kept growing, during Ramazan and into Eid.

The United States just added another $6 million in new funding, including from our Centers for Disease Control, to strengthen Pakistan’s response by expanding training for health workers who take care of patients in hospitals with severe cases: preventing the spread of coronavirus in healthcare facilities and providing a fourth mobile lab to test and treat Pakistanis living in virus hotspots.

With this new $6 million in funding, the United States has now committed a total of $21 million since we declared Pakistan a priority country for coronavirus response. We’re deepening our collaboration between Pakistani and American healthcare authorities in a coordinated effort, as Prime Minister Khan and President Trump directed. This is truly a two-way partnership.

We thank Pakistan for its recent delivery of medical supplies to the United States as a gesture of friendship that is deeply appreciated. Together, we will overcome this virus and build a healthy, prosperous future for Pakistanis and Americans alike. Stay safe and healthy. Bohat Shukria!”
