ISLAMABAD: As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fever elsewhere among cricket lovers, Pakistani Peshawar cobblers are also showing their love and support for their favorite teams by presenting them gift of hand made leather Peshawari Chappal for PSL players.

Although thousands of shoes and sandals are present around the world yet Peshawari Chappal requires no introduction in internationally market.

According to cobblers, Peshawari Chappals have fashion signature for nearly every Pakistani and there is no religious festival or occasion considered complete without wearing Peshawari Chappal.

A Chappal maker Bakir Sayed said, over the last two years, various national leaders and icons have worn these chappals, ranging from political figures such as Jawaharlal Nehru to sporting legends such as Shahid Afridi.

This has added to their local popularity and received international fame.

He said every year with the arrival of PSL matches , they used to make unique numerous designs and shapes of chappals for Peshawari Zulmi in their support.

Another cobbler Hashim Khan said , with the rising demand of chappals, its making will also be increased in next couple of days.

Nowadays, people also wear Peshawari chappal made out of jeans and materials other than leather, he added.

A cobbler Zia Khan said, i am in favor of Lahore Qalanders and busy day to night for preparing pair of Peshawari chappals for my favorite team members.

According to citizens, the shoemaker said that it was their “custom” to give presents.
