Trump terms Iran nuclear deal ‘worst agreement ever negotiated’

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said that Iran was the number one terrorist state in the world and described the nuclear deal as “the worst” agreement ever negotiated.

“They (Iranians) are the number one terrorist state. They are sending money all over the place — and weapons. And can’t do that,” Trump said in an interview on Sunday.

“I think it was a deal (nuclear) that should have never been negotiated,” he said.

Iran on Sunday held a military exercise to test its missile and radar systems, in response to the sanctions imposed on Tehran by Trump administration.

Washington sanctioned 13 individuals and 12 entities under U.S. Iran sanctions authority on Friday, after the White House had put Tehran “on notice” over a ballistic missile test and other activities.

The Trump administration has also issued tough warning against Iran.

“The deal that was made by the Obama administration. I think it is a shame that we have had a deal like that and that we had to sign a deal like that. And there was no reason to do it. And, if you are going to do it, have a good deal,” Trump said.

“We gave them $1.7 billion in cash, which is unheard of. We put the money up and we have really nothing to show for it,” he rued.

Trump did not gave a clear answer if it is possible that he would tear up the Iranian nuclear deal. “We will see what happens,” he said. “I can say this, they have total disregard for our country.”
