Trump’s EO is inhumane: MP Bradford Imran Hussain

M. M. ALAM

LONDON: MP Bradford Barrister Imran Hussain has said: “Donald Trump’s recent executive order is an inhumane act that discriminates against Muslims and against some of the world’s most vulnerable people fleeing war zones, and suspending the US Refugee Admissions Programme puts innocent lives at risk.

“However the fact that he has signed such an order is no surprise, as during the Republican Primaries it was clear to me that Donald Trump was an extremely divisive man who does not share our values of tolerance and respect, and I put a motion before Parliament in the form of an Early Day Motion that called on the Government to refuse him a visit to the UK until he withdrew his comments.

“I firmly stand by this, and I join the many members of Parliament and the international community in condemning his dangerous and divisive behavior. The UK Government has a duty to send a strong message to Donald Trump and make it clear that his actions discriminate against people on the grounds of their nationality and religion, and are contrary to our values, but Theresa May’s eventual condemnation of the executive order was delayed and weak.

“By also allowing a visit to go ahead, I am also concerned that the Government are ignoring the voices of more than one and a half million British people, and the demands that Britain should not welcome a man who incites discrimination and hatred in such a way”.
