LONDON: A number of far-right rioters have been incarcerated, following fast-track hearing, here on Wednesday (7th August, 2024) for violent disorder.

SOUTHPORT (UK): One of the first to be sent behind bars was 58-year-old Derek Drummond who was sentenced to three years imprisonment for punching a cop outside a mosque here on Tuesday (6th August, 2024).

PM Keir Starmer called it swift action the government was taking to contain those provoking violent disorders “on out streets”. Maintaining that 99.99% of people across the UK wanted their streets to be safe and to feel safe in their communities, Starmer warned: “Anyone involved would face the full force of law, including those inciting violence online”.

UK authorities informed that 425 rioters had been taken into custody and 120 had been charged.
