BRISTOL: Avon and Somerset Police have disclosed on Thursday (11th Dec, 2025) that four men had stolen six hundred artefacts between 1:00 am and 2:00 am on 25th September, from the Museum located on Cumberland Road.
The items include military medals, jewellery, and carved ivory etc from a collection recording the connection between Britain & countries in the former British Empire. Police have appealed citoyens to share information apropos the 4 unidentified individuals captured on CCTV carrying bags full of stolen artefacts.
According to Police: “More than 600 artefacts of various descriptions were taken by the offenders. The theft of many items which carry a significant cultural value is a significant loss for the city. These items, many of which were donations, form part of a collection that provides insight into a multi-layered part of British history!”
Police said that they were hoping that, “members of the public can help us to bring those responsible to justice. So far, our enquiries have included significant CCTV enquiries as well as forensic investigations and speaking with the victims.” Interestingly, four men stole crown jewels on 25th October from Louvre.
