WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that considering the unsolved confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, he has decided it would be “best” to cancel his scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump tweeted during his flight to Argentina that “based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting… in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin.”
“I look forward to a meaningful Summit again as soon as this situation is resolved!” he added. Earlier in the day, international media had reported that Russia and the US had agreed on details of a presidential meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The meeting between the two presidents was to take place on 1st December 1, at 1430GMT for two hours, with the agenda to discuss bilateral issues including security, arms control, and regional matters.
