University Professor hacked to death in Bangladesh’s Rajshahi

NEW DELHI: A university professor has been hacked to death in northwestern Bangladesh, a local news agency reported Saturday.

According to deputy police commissioner Nahidul Islam, Professor A.F.M. Rezaul Karim Siddique was attacked on the way to the state-run university in Rajshahi city, where he taught English.

“The attack is similar to other killings by suspected Muslim militants,” said Islam, adding that the attackers used sharp weapons and fled the scene immediately after.

However, no groups have claimed responsibility for the attack.
