Unregistered service stations to be sealed

PESHAWAR: DC Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh today issued orders for the sealing of all unregistered service stations in the district.

In this connection, he also presided over a meeting here.  The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shahid Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sara Rehman and representatives Water & Sanitation Services Programme (WSSP) and other officers of the district administration.  The meeting was told that most of the service stations are unregistered and they are the main reasons behind declining water tables in these areas.

The meeting also reviewed in details the performance of WSSP, the Deputy Commissioner issued directives for the immediate sealing of these service stations with immediate effect and directed in future water levels in these areas should be checked at the time of the granting registration to service stations. He also directed the WSSP to not register those service stations which are not fulfilling their criteria.  In this connection, he directed immediate action by all administrative officers.
