US Ambassador David Hale calls on PM




ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, a statement issued by PM house said.

The meeting took place at PM house on Thursday.

Hale appreciated the efforts of Pakistan to restore peace in Afghanistan and said initiatives including the Quadrilateral arrangement will prove significantly beneficial in bringing peace to Afghanistan.

“Achieving a peaceful Afghanistan was in the interest of the entire region and Pakistan’s endeavours will help a great deal in this regard,” said Hale.

According to the statement, PM Nawaz told the ambassador that Pakistan has a vital stake in peace, stability and development in Afghanistan.

“Pakistan is engaged in sincere and consistent efforts for promoting reconciliation through an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process,” the PM said.

Moreover, the Prime Minister said Pakistan was desirous of bringing greater depth and economic substance to its relationship with the United States of America.

Prime Minister’s special advisor Tariq Fatemi was also present during the meeting.
