US Ambassador’s Fund to Award 200 New Grants

QUETTA: The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) today announces new funding opportunities from the Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program.
During the current five-year cycle, running from 2017-2022, this programme will award approximately 200 grants including grants in Balochistan in support of high impact efforts by Pakistani organizations working to improve the economic and social conditions of the people of Pakistan. The Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program supports initiatives focused on priority areas identified by the United States Ambassador to Pakistan. This nationwide programme helps the people of Pakistan including the people of Balochistan to address local problems by implementing unique solutions that will have an immediate and long-lasting impact.
During the current programme grant cycle, USAID will support initiatives focused on promoting culture & the arts, improving disaster preparedness, developing small-scale energy solutions, encouraging social entrepreneurship, and empowering vulnerable populations. Private sector organizations, non-governmental organizations, and non-government academic research and training institutions including those led by women are eligible to apply. The program is managed by the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA).

M. M. Alam is a Pakistan-based working journalist since 1981. Karachi University faculty gold medalist Alam began his career four decades ago by writing for Dawn, Pakistan’s highest circulating English daily. He has worked for region’s leading publications, global aviation periodicals including Rotors (of USA) and vetted New York Times as permanent employee of daily Express Tribune. Alam regularly covers international aviation and defense-related events including Salon Du Bourget (France), Farnborough (United Kingdom), Dubai (UAE). Alam has reported thousands of events and interviewed hundreds of people in Pakistan, UAE, EU, UK and USA. Being Francophone Alam also coordinates with a number of French publications.
