US blacklists 26 entities for illegal supply of weapons

WASHINGTON: Blacklisting a number of entities, Alan Estevez, US Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security, stated on Monday (21st October, 2024) that they were vigilant in defending national security from bad actors: “Our actions today send a message to malicious actors that if they violate our controls, they will pay a price.”

According to details US Commerce Department had accused 26 entities based in Pakistan, China and UAE of violating export controls, supporting weapons programs of concern or attempting to evade US sanctions on Russia and Iran.

9 entities in Pakistan allegedly provided facade for the blacklisted Advanced Engineering Research Organization, the acquired US-origin items for Pakistani cruise missile and drone programs.

6 entities in China were aiding Chinese military modernization and were supporting Irani drone and other programs.

3 entities in the UAE and 1 in Egypt tried to get US components to steer clear of sanctions imposed by USA since 2022 Ukraine-Russia conflict started.

These organisations, accused of involvement in weapons and drone development programs in Iran and Pakistan, and for aiding Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine, will not have access to US technologies and products without government approval.
