(VIDEO AND TEXT) US CG Grace Shelton applauds beauty of Pakistan snapped by Erkut Onart

KARACHI: Venue was the Main Art Gallery of French Cultural Center (Alliance Française). Here photography aficionados converged from all over the Metropolis to appreciate the works of  former Turkish diplomat Erkut Onart.  

Over forty snaps, representing the two countries, were  exhibited in the expo titled   Turkey and Pakistan – two nations bonded by faith, culture and brotherhood !

A number of foreign diplomats also visited the 5-day exposition that will terminate today (21st day of May). Talking to NewsPakistan.TV Consul General of USA Grace Shelton highly applauded the way Erkut Onart has captured the beauty of Pakistan.

Commenting on the photographs she said: “I can’t decide between the beautiful nature ones (there). And I am also drawn to this beautiful truck art one.

“But the talent of capturing the beauty of Pakistan is wonderful”, said Grace Shelton. 

Erkut Onart was born in Edremit, Turkey. He graduated from Galatasaray High School in Istanbul and earned his undergraduate degree from the Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Ankara .

After graduating from University of Nancy in France and John Hopkins University in Italy, he joined the Turkish diplomatic corps in 1964.

He served in the United Nations Headquarters in New York as well as Accra, Tabriz, Luxembourg, Manama, Geneva and Rotterdam.

After retiring in 2002, he dedicated his time to his many passions, especially photography and traveling – both hobbies he is pursuing since his teen years.

When asked about the secret of his positive approach to life, he likes to answer that he had banished the words tired and bored from his vocabulary.

Erkut Onart’s photography depicts the beauty of nature, the colors of diverse cultures and the details of everyday life.

He has held many exhibitions all over the globe, including major cities in Turkey as well as the Netherlands, Geneva, Luxembourg, Vilnius, Beirut, Aleppo, Rhodes, Batum, Odessa, Minsk and Pakistan.
