WASHINGTON: Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has informed the journalists at a Presser held on Wed (4th March, 2026) that a US submarine sank an Iranian warship a day earlier by means of a torpedo, in the Indian Ocean, and the target diet a quite death.
Commenting on the Iranian warship sunk by US, Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated 5th March, 2026 on X: “The U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s shores. Frigate Dena, a guest of India’s Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning. Mark my words: The U.S. will come to bitterly regret precedent it has set.”
Earlier, Sri Lankan Navy responded to the SOS call from the crew of Iranian warship Iris Dena (that was harboring 180) and rescued 32 (seriously injured) personnel from life rafts floating on the water. Eighty bodies were also recovered from the ship.
