ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy here launched its Freedom 250 lecture series to engage the Pakistani public on key priorities such as entrepreneurship, the digital economy, and critical minerals.
As part of this series, Donna Carpenter, co-founder and chair of the board of directors of US company Burton Snowboards, and Samar Khan, a Pakistani professional athlete and alumna of the US Department of State espnW Global Sports Mentoring Program, connected with sports professionals, youth, and business leaders.
On 28th January, at an event at the newly constructed US Educational Foundation in Pakistan headquarters, they highlighted the role of sports entrepreneurship in youth development, innovation, and cross-cultural exchange. They emphasized that sports foster essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, and create opportunities for young people to contribute to their communities to drive positive change both locally and globally.
The US Embassy’s Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy Andy Halus said: “Pakistan has a young, energetic population and untapped potential in sports and entrepreneurship. By engaging with students, athletes, and professionals, we not only exchange ideas and explore ways sports can empower communities but also foster partnerships that make both our countries more prosperous. These connections help create new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and economic growth, advancing shared interests and deepening the ties between the United States and Pakistan.”
The Freedom 250 lecture series will engage the Pakistani public through lectures by distinguished alumni of US-sponsored exchanges, American business leaders, and other US experts. This series offers a unique platform to showcase American expertise and build lasting partnerships as we commemorate 250 years of American independence.

اسلام آباد۔امریکی سفارتخانہ اسلام آباد نے ڈھائی سو سالہ جشن آزادی ،فریڈم ۲۵۰، کے سلسلہ میں ایک لیکچر سیریز کا باضابطہ آغاز کر دیا ہے۔ اس سرگرمی کا مقصد پاکستانیوں کو کلیدی اہمیت کی حامل ترجیحات، مثلاً انٹرپرینیورشپ، ڈیجیٹل معیشت اور نایاب معدنیات کے بارے میں رُوشناس کرانا ہے۔ اس سیریز کے تحت امریکی کمپنی برٹن سنوبورڈز کی بانی اور بورڈ آف ڈائریکٹرز کی صدر ڈونا کارپینٹر اور امریکی محکمہ خارجہ کے اسپورٹس تبادلہ پروگرام کی ایلومنائی اور پاکستانی کھلاڑی ثمر خان نے کھیلوں سے وابستہ افراد، نوجوانوں اور تجارتی رہنماؤں کے ساتھ تبادلہ خیال کیا۔
یو ایس ایجوکیشنل فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کی نو تعمیر شدہ عمارت میں اٹھائیس جنوری کو منعقدہ والی اس تقریب کے دوران مقررین نے اسپورٹس انٹرپرینیوئر شپ کا نوجوانوں کی ترقی، جدت اور بین الثقافتی تبادلوں میں کرداراُجاگر کیا۔ دوران نشست ، روز مرہ زندگی کی مہارتوں، جیسا کہ قیادت، ٹیم ورک اور استقامت کو مضبوط بنانے میں کھیلوں کے کردار کی اہمیت پر بھی زور دیا گیا ۔ مقررین کا کہنا تھا کہ کھیل نوجوانوں کو معاشرتی خدمت کے وہ مواقع فراہم کرتے ہیں جو مقامی اور عالمی سطح پر مثبت تبدیلی کا پیش خیمہ بن سکتے ہیں۔
اس موقع پر امریکی سفارتخانے کے منسٹر قونصلر برائے پبلک ڈپلومیسی اینڈی ہاس نے اظہارِ خیال کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان کی آبادی نوجوان اور توانائی سے بھرپور افراد پر مشتمل ہےاوریہاں کھیلوں اور انٹرپرینیور شپ کے حوالے سے غیر دریافت شدہ باصلاحیت افراد موجود ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ طالبعلموں ، کھلاڑیوں اور پیشہ ور افراد سے تعلق اُستوار کرتے ہوئے ہم نہ صرف تبادلہ خیال کو فروغ دیتے ہیں اور کھیلوں کے ذریعے افراد کو بااختیار بنانے کے نئی راہیں دریافت کرتے ہیں بلکہ اپنے دونوں ممالک کی خوشحالی کی ضامن شراکت داریوں کو بھی تقویت دیتے ہیں۔ اِس نوعیت کے تعلقات اشتراک، اختراع اور معاشی نمو کے لیے نئے مواقع تخلیق کرتے ہوئے مشترکہ مفادات کی تکمیل میں پیش رفت اور امریکہ اور پاکستان کے مابین روابط مضبوط کرنے میں معاون ثابت ہوتے ہیں۔
واضح رہے کہ فریڈم ۲۵۰ سیریز کے تحت پاکستان میں امریکی معاونت سے چلنے والے تبادلہ پروگراموں کے فارغ التحصیل افراد، امریکی کاروباری شخصیات اور دیگر امریکی ماہرین کے لیکچرز کا اہتمام کیا جائے گا۔ یہ سیریز مختلف شعبوں میں امریکی مہارتوں کو اجاگر کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ امریکہ کی آزادی کے ڈھائی سو سالہ جشن کے موقع پر دیرینہ شراکتوں کے قیام میں بھی معاون ثابت ہو رہی ہے۔

US Consul General Charles Goodman attended the USA vs. Sri Lanka Over-40s T20 World Cup Cricket match at Karachi’s National Stadium on Sunday (23rd Nov, 2025), to support Team USA and celebrate the unifying power of sports.
He joined more than 500 US government-supported English Access students from all over the Sindh to experience the excitement of Pakistan’s popular sport.
Consul General Goodman joined veteran sports reporters for a pre-game discussion and delivered live commentary from the stadium’s box. Following Team USA’s victory, Consul General Goodman congratulated the players, presented trophies, and commended the Sri Lankan team’s efforts. He noted that sporting events like these foster stronger connections and bring people together.
The International Masters Cricket Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup brings together 12 international teams competing in 42 matches across five venues in Karachi from 21st November to 1st of December. Organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, the tournament reunites former test and first-class players.
Team USA, led by Captain Muhammad Farrukh and Vice-Captain Zeshan Muhammad, continues to elevate cricket’s profile in the United States. Team USA’s participation also contributes to the United States’ “Mega Decade of Sports,” including the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and enhances U.S. cricket’s visibility on the global stage.
Consul General Goodman emphasized that “Sports have the power to unite people across borders, cultures, and communities. The US Mission in Pakistan proudly supports programs that connect youth and strengthen partnerships, as seen in today’s USA–Sri Lanka cricket match.”
