PARIS: Victory in Europe (VE) Day  – when Allied Forces had formally announced the surrender of Germany – is celebrated every 8th of May.

On this historic day Allied forces formally announced the surrender of Germany, which brought the Second World War to a close in Europe.

French President Emmanuel Macron has presided over ceremonies marking the anniversary of the victory of the Allied forces over Nazi Germany on the Champs-Elysées, a day after being sworn in for a second term in office.
