(VIDEO AND TEXT) 9th Karachi Literature Festival!

KARACHI: Literati from all over the Metropolis converged at creek-side Beach Luxury Hotel where 9th edition of 3-day Karachi Literature Festival commenced on Friday 9th of February. 

The event opened with welcome speech by Managing Director Oxford University Press Ameena Saiyid (OBE). Besides diplomats (including American, German, French, British, Indian and Italian) a number of prominent speakers addressed the ladies and gentlemen in the audience.

Ameena Saiyid while talking to Newspakistan.tv (Official Partner BBCNEWS) has told that literary giants from all over Pakistan and eight other countries were participating in the festival. 

Terming KLF as the mother of all fests Ameena Saiyid pointed out that towards the naissance of such events and music/film/theatre festivals in other cities. Noorul Huda Shah held that Literature, culture and art were necessary to keep nations alive. Consul General of USA Grace Shelton maintained that connections and new ideas were generated during the festival that serves to inspire the minds of writers, scholars and academics and artists. Grace Shelton noted that KLF was Metropolis’ most anticipated cultural event. Deputy High Commissioner of UK Elin Burns noted that through the rich literature of Pakistan KLF showcased both talent and diversity. German Consul-General Rainer Schmiedchen stated that his countrymen were proud to be associated with the KLF, which was the nicest annual intellectuals’ gathering in Pakistan.
