IDOMENI: Though it is not clear whether they are political or economic migrants, some 10,000 (mostly Syrian and Iraqi) men, women and children flocked the tent city at the border of Greece.
While the Media is continuously presenting them as refugees, the pundits ask why they only opt to go to Europe and not to some poor neighbor. The millions of Afghans who flee their country after the Soviet invasion logically landed in the neighboring Pakistan.
The present exodus including crowd at the Greek border is dubbed by UNHCR as the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII causing ‘unnecessary suffering being at variance with EU and international law standards’.
