KARACHI: Youm-e-Ashur (Tenth day of Muharram) is being observed today across the country amid tight security to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions’ sacrifices.
Prime Minister Imran Khan while commenting on the battle of Karbala held: “The great battle between the good and evil at Karbala gives a message to the Muslims that they should be ready to offer any sacrifice for the promotion of high values and principles of Islam.
“This day revives the unprecedented and supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)…the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) gives a message that all the ordeals in the path of righteousness should be tolerated in a broad manner and even one should be ready to lay down one’s life to the satisfaction of the Creator,” PM Imran Khan held.
Drawing a parallel between the martyrs of Karbala and those who are sacrificing their lives in IoK, the PM said: “Kashmiri people have kept alive the Sunnah of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and made the Occupied Kashmir another great example of battle between the good and evil.”
President Arif Alvi stated: “The supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain is a triumph of humanity and Islamic principles. Youm-e-Ashur has a significant place in the Islamic history as on this day the grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Hazrat Imam Hussain along with his family members and companions embraced martyrdom, thus making the tragic event unforgettable till the day of judgment.
“This great sacrifice reminds the Muslims every year that they should not be hesitant from sacrificing their lives in the face of forces of evil and vice,” President added.
Tight security measures had been taken by the concerned authorities. While mobile phone services have been suspended along the routes of main processions, thousands of LEA’s personnel are guarding the routes. Trained Dogs are also being used to sniff explosives
In Karachi small processions that converged at Nishtar Park emerged as the main Muharram procession which will culminate at Imam Bargah Hussanian Iranian at Kharadar in the evening. Its route (Saddar and MA Jinnah) has been sealed by means of Freight Containers while thousands of law-enforcers are guarding the routes. Aerial motioning is also being carried out via helicopters.
In Lahore the main process of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate, which will be concluded at Karbala Gaamay Shah this evening, after passing through its traditional route inside the Lahore Walled City. Thousands of personnel of law enforcement departments have been deputed on routes of all processions to avoid any untoward incident while CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes of processions especially the main processions.
In the Federal Capital the main procession has been taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2, that will terminate at the same place. In Rawalpindi, the central procession of Ashura emerged from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah which after passing through its traditional route will culminate at the Qadeemi Imambargah.
In KP the main Alm and Zuljinnah procession of 10th Muharram was taken out from Imam Bargah Alamdar-e Karbala Qissa Khawani Bazaar in Peshawar. Similarly, Alm and Zuljinnah processions are being taken out in Kohat, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Parachinar, D.I.Khan and other cities and towns of the province.
In Balochistan, the main procession of Alm, Tazia and Zuljinnah was taken out from Imam-Bargah Nichari Alamdar Road in Quetta which will culminate at its destination after Maghrib prayers.
10th of Muharram is also being observed in Gilgit-Baltistan today. To pay reverence to the sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and his companions in Karbala processions are being organized in all three divisions. Gilgit-Baltistan administration has made security plan to ensure the protection of mourners during Ashur processions.
In the IoK the Kashmiris – suffering from the 37th day of lockdown – despite ban on observing Muharram on the roads, brought out processions. Reportedly incidences of baton charging and arrests occurred there.
