18 Shah Noorani zaireen killed as the truck carrying them fell into ravine

HUB: Eighteen zaireen (pilgrims) lost their lives, while 40 got injured (5 critically) when the over-speeding truck carrying 100 voyagers (from Thatta’s Qasim Jokhio village) to the shrine of Shah Noorani in Khuzdar area of Balochistan, got out of the driver’s control while negotiating a turn and plunged into a ravine 10pm on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr (Wednesday, 10th April, 2024).

While forty injured passengers have been discharged, fifteen wounded are still being treated at Civil Hospital Karachi’s Trauma Center. Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah – who visited the facility and met the injured voyagers – told the Media: “Five injured in the Trauma Center are on ventilators.”

Informing that the Trauma Center could accommodate 15 more victims of the accident, the CM stated that two injured children were also under-treatment at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH). Many wounded were also taken to Hub’s Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital. Bodies of all the 18 deceased (15 of whom have been identified) will be buried in a mass grave prepared in Makli.
