10-year-old killed as cops exchanged fire with suspect

KARACHI: As a result of an encounter between Police and an alleged suspect here in Quaidabad area on Friday a ten-year-old boy lost his life. 

Sources informed that two plain-clothed cops were acquiring information in the Sherpao Colony when the suspect fired at them and attempted to flee. In the pursuit, an exchange of fire took place taking the life of a ten-year-old who received a bullet in the head. He was put on a ventilator before he succumbed to his injuries. 

Another 12-year-old boy, who received a bullet wound on the leg, is recovering. Both the cops and the suspect also got injured. Police claims that the wounded suspect Sher Zaman, who was apprehended, after crossfire, had been arrested a number of times previously. It has not been ascertained yet whose bullets killed and injured the boys.
