WASHINGTON: Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) has bestowed upon the Courage Prize to Palestinian head of Al-Jazeera Gaza desk Waël al-Dahdouh at Press Freedom Awards held at National Museum of Women in the Arts here on Tuesday (3rd Dec, 2024).
During the Gaza War, (that the half-cocked Hamas commenced on 7th Oct, 2023,) Waël al-Dahdouh’s wife, grandson and three of his kids were killed by Israeli strikes. He too got injured by an Israeli drone strike in Dec, 2023, which killed his cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa. But Waël al-Dahdouh never stopped reporting,
His contribution towards the cause was recognised by means of RSF Courage Prize. Reporters Sans Frontières maintains: “Each year, the RSF Press Freedom Awards honour the work of journalists and media outlets that have made significant contributions to the defence and promotion of press freedom worldwide.”
