ISLAMABAD: IHC, while granting bail to Imran Khan in what has been termed as Toshakhana-2 case on Wednesday (20th Nov, 2024) ordered his release if he is not arrested in any other case.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb approving bail plea warned that after release Imran Khan will have to be appear before the court during trial. Although Imran Khan is not wanted in any other case here, in Lahore he had to remain in judicial custody till 27th of November, 2024 in an other case.
Imran Khan and his espouse were taken into custody on 23rd July, 2024 in the Toshakhana Case II. FIA had accused them of retaining a jewellery set which (being a gift by a foreign leader) was supposed to be surrendered to the government. While their advocates held that they obtained the jewellery according to the rules and regulations.
Toshakhana Case I: It may be recalled that on 31st January 2024 (a week before the General Elections) an accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir, had sentenced former PM (who was present in the courtroom) and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years imprisonment. PTI reacted by saying: “Big question mark arise on our judicial system now.”
