VILLACH (Austria): A 23-year-old Syrian asylum seeker was nabbed at the crime scene where he stabbed a 14-year-old boy to death and injured five others (two gravely) here on Saturday (15th Feb 2025).
It transpired that the stabber had been radicalised online within a very short space of time and the attack was linked to IS. Incidentally, a Syrian delivery worker drove his vehicle at the stabber preventing more injuries.
The Austria-based Free Syrian Community took to the Social Media to distance itself from the stabber: “We all had to flee Syria, our home country, because we were no longer safe there — no one left their country voluntarily.
“We are grateful to have found asylum and protection in Austria. Finally, we would like to emphasize: Anyone who causes strife and disturbs the peace of society does not represent the Syrians who have sought and received protection here.”
