ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, has been instructed Sunday (4th May, 2025) by the GoP to take immediate steps to convene a UNSC meeting.
It has been officially decided that during the UNSC meeting Pakistan will highlight India’s illegal actions to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty signed back in 1960. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintained that this important diplomatic move is part of Pakistan’s efforts to present accurate facts to the international community.
UNSC will also be informed about India’s aggressive actions and provocative statements. It may be recalled that India has been propagating, sans proof, that the Pahalgam attack (carried out on 22nd April 2025, during which 26 tourists were gunned down) was carried out under the patronage of Islamabad. Rejecting the Indian accusation, Pakistan has called for a neutral probe, either by a number of countries or the United Nations.
