MASTUNG (BALOCHISTAN): An IED exploded injuring five voyagers, as 6 coaches of Peshawar-bound (39-UP) Jaffar Express derailed at Spezand Railway Station here. on Sunday (10th August, 2025).
The Jaffar Express struck the bomb (attached to the railway track) at the Dasht Tehsil‘s Station. Four bogies have been put back on the track. All 350 passengers have been transported back to Quetta (from where the train originated) by mean of a relief train, and the ticket money have been reimbursed to them.
Those injured were provided first aid as their wounds were not of serious nature. Militants here regularly utilize IEDs to carry out attacks. Just a couple of days ago Quetta-bound Jaffar Express escaped such attack as the planted bomb exploded moments after the train passed the spot in Sibi area of Balochistan.

Last November, via similar blast, terrorists killed twenty-five and injured fifty Jaffar Express passengers. On 1st November, 2024 an IED, harbouring ten kilograms of explosives, fitted on a motorcycle parked near Girls High School Chowk was detonated by means of a remote-controlled device at 8.35 am on 1st November last year killing nine and injuring thirty-three.
Unknown bombers primarily targeted a police mobile that was heading to Mastung District Hospital to pick polio workers up in order to escort them as they move from door to door administrating Polio drops. The IED was detonated remotely (close to a girls’ school where pupils were coming in vans and rickshaws) at a time when a police vehicle appeared near the bomb and was destroyed completely.
But tragically 6 boys and girls (aged between 10 to 13) also lost their lives due to the blast. The thirty-three injured, (mostly pupils) were taken to DHQ and Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Hospital. Later nine gravely wounded (3 in critical condition) were shifted to Quetta Trauma Center. There is an insinuation that the Polio workers operating in the region were the main targets of the bombers.
Since Police were guarding one such team in the area they attacked the Mobile van. As a result one cop lost his life while 23 others got injured. DC Mastung said: “Terrorists attacked a police van near Civil Hospital, where the police mobile was patrolling when the attack occurred.”
