Louvre: French Crown Jewels Stolen

PARIS: Four masked motorcyclists appeared at Louvre on Sunday (19th Oct, 2025) morning, reached the upper floor of the Museum’s Galerie d’Apollon (home to the French Crown Jewel) using a mechanical ladder, broke through the glass using an angle grinder, bolted out and disappeared riding their mopeds, with nine pieces of priceless jewels from the French Crown.

French crown jewels stolen from Louvre Paris

Culture Minister Rachida Dati who reached the site on hearing the news about theft, informed that a (damaged) crown belonging to Napoleon III’s wife Empress Eugénie was found near the Museum. Nevertheless, thieves took with them a Diadem, Empress Eugénie’s Pearl Tiara, a Necklace and a Brooch, French Crown Pearl Brooch or Diamond Bow Brooch). According to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez the stolen jewels were of immeasurable heritage value.

It is pertinent to mention here that Galerie d’Apollon harbored French Crown Jewels since 1887. Aficionados of Museums in Pakistan were shocked to learn about the heist, but here no robbery is needed as mos to the artifices are stolen by the officials themselves. For instance, the world’s largest necropolis Makli is deprived of relics.
