LAHORE: 25 policemen, belonging to the Farooqabad Constabulary, face disciplinary action for refusing to go to Kacha (Riverine) area of Rajanpur to fight the dacoits there, four days ago.

The cops jumped out of the vehicles near Zahir Pir Interchange while they were being transported to the terrain infested with heavily armed miscreants (protegé of landlords who use them against their political opponents).

It is relevant to add here that a couple of days ago a video released by the Kacha Dacoits in which an abducted cop Ahmad Nawaz was seen appealing the CM and the IGP to pay the ransom to ensure his safe release. (He was reportedly rescued in a prisoners’ swap deal).

Twenty-five dacoits operating in the kacha (riverine) area, armed with rocket-launchers, attacked Thursday (22nd August, 2024) two Police vehicles (within the Machhka PS limits) carrying 20 cops. killing 12 and injuring other 8 (two critically), who were going back after discharging 15-day duties.

Police claimed that they had neutralised three dacoits in the exchange of fire. Meanwhile, it seems that the bandits had kidnapped a number of Police officers. Cynics go haywire wondering why the SOPs were not followed. For instance, why the cops were not travelling during the day instead of night; why they were not wearing bullet proof jackets; why they were not transported by means of armoured vehicles?
