ZAWIYA CITY: FIA, by means of their passports, confirmed death of sixteen Pakistanis in the 10 Feb boat capsizing tragedy.
Of all the 63 Pakistanis onboard, 10 are missing, one was hospitalised, 33 are in police custody, and three are being assisted by the Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli:

Deceased belonged to KP (Bajaur, Kurram, Orakzai and Peshawar). The number of deaths could augment as the boat was carrying 73 illegal immigrants (including 63 Pakistanis and 10 Bangladeshis). It capsized near the port of Marsa Dela, northwest of Zawiya City here on Monday (10th Feb, 2025).
A team, sent by Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli, had assisted the staff of Zawiya Hospital in the identification of the dead. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had provided contact numbers for inquiries: i) 0305-2185882 (WhatsApp); ii) +218 91-6425435(WhatsApp); iii) +218913870577(Cell).
Crisis Management Unit has also been activated. Its helpline No. is 051-9207887. Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli actively gathered information about the nationalities of the deceased illegal immigrants. It is pertinent to mention here that this spot happens to be one of the major human smuggling routes on the Mediterranean Sea.
