8th Sept is observed as Pakistan Navy Day

KARACHI: Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf in his message on the occasion of Pakistan Navy Day (8th September, 2024) said that exemplary valour of officers and sailors continues to inspire generations and inflame the spirit of patriotism across the nation.

Naval Chief stated: “September 8th (the Navy Day) is a remarkable day in our naval history, where our fearless warriors, driven by unshakeable resolve, struck against the enemy with absolute impunity and bravado.

“This day stands as an enduring tribute to the selfless sacrifices of our gallant officers and sailors, whose exemplary valour continues to inspire generations and inflame the spirit of patriotism across the nation.

“The Navy Day is an occasion to commemorate a series of extraordinary operations that embody the unfailing enthusiasm and unprecedented courage of our sea sentinels.

“Operation ‘SOMNATH’ shines as a beacon of valour, where a formidable Pakistan Navy Flotilla comprising seven major warships executed a daring surprise attack on the Indian Port of Dwarka.

“This audacious operation inflicted significant damage on critical shore installations and a key radar station, which signified unparalleled professionalism and dealt a serious blow to the enemy.

“During the 1965 war, PNS/M GHAZI emerged as a grisly deterrent, epitomizing our operational ascendancy and raising stakes for the enemy, harbouring malicious intent and harm to our homeland through violent force.

“Drawing inspiration from our rich history, Pakistan Navy remains alive to the need of maintaining combat readiness at all times in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, where potential contingencies demand constant vigilance.

“The Navy is steadfast in its commitment to modernise and expand its fleet capabilities through the induction of cutting-edge warships, submarines, maritime aircraft and patrol vessels. Ongoing projects in these domains manifest the Navy’s strategic direction to enhance its operational prowess and boost the existing infrastructure.

“Pakistan Navy’s regional influence is reinforced by its sustained presence in international waters and meaningful engagements with the regional navies. These efforts underscore the Navy’s commitment to fostering cooperation, promoting maritime security, and advancing its role as a ‘force for good’ in the region.

“Pakistan Navy is striving in concert with the Government to stimulate the maritime sector, harness the vast potential of Blue Economy and drive growth to usher tangible economic benefits to Pakistan.

Today, as we celebrate the Navy Day, we reaffirm our resolve and pay rich tributes to the Shuhadas and Ghazis who have made innumerable sacrifices in the defence of the country. The Officers, CPOs/Sailors, and Civilians of Pakistan Navy pledge to stand firm in the face of any adversity and protect our nation’s maritime interests, at all costs.

“May Allah be our guide and protector, Ameen!”
