ISLAMABAD: A large number of workers/supporters from all over the country converged at Sanjani area here on Sunday (8th September, 2024) to be part of PTI jalsa.
NOC for the jalsa clearly mentioned that the permission was granted on the condition that it would commence at 4pm and disperse by 7pm. Yet the jalsa went well-beyond that dead-line till 9.45pm.
Due to an intelligence report that terrorists could strike the PTI jalsa or some miscreants might attempt to create law and order situation, almost all the entry points to Islamabad were blocked by means of containers.
Overall 29 points had been sealed in the Federal Capital. When a group of workers and supporters attempted to cross one such barrier to go towards the congregation, they were stopped by police.
As a result a bout of stone-pelting from the mob and tear-gas shelling from the cops took place. FC was also called to reinforce Police.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai, admitting that such staging of public rallies would not bring about any revolution, reiterated that the people had already brought about change by means of the power of their vote,
Taking to the X, Hammad Azhar termed the shelling an idiotic move and held that would augment the political temperature, “in a situation where the public is already furious at the form 47 govt.”
PTI lamented that the law enforcers were attempting to sabotage the rally by rounding up its supporters and barring the caterers from proceeding to the venue with chairs and sound system.
Earlier in the day, Police had claimed to have recovered a grenade, detonator and explosives from the jalsa ground.
CM KP Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, while talking to the audience warned the government to release IK legally within 2 weeks or PTI workers would do that.
Conspicuous among others visible on the stage there were Chairman PTI Gohar Ali Khan, IK’s sister Aleema Khan, Ali Muhammad Khan, Afzal Marwat, Faisal Jawed Khan, Jamshed Dasti and others.
