Information Ministry will remain in constant touch with PFUJ: Chohan (VIDEO AND TEXT)

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan has assured that his ministry would remain in constant touch with PFUJ and vehemently endeavor towards solving the journalists’ problems.

He was addressing the journalists who had converged here from all over the country to attend the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ)’s two-day BDM convention. Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan said that many were not accepting the PTI government under the leadership of Imran Khan. According to the Minister, looting by Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari had ended and conspiracies were being hatched against the PTI government.

He assured that government had not stopped the release of advertisements to Media and even those Media Houses that were sacking the journalists were getting advertisements. The Minister told that government advertisements of those Media Houses that fail to pay salaries to journalists for two months would be stopped.

Chohan, holding that past government had used advertisements as bribes, maintained that the sacking of workers was a conspiracy against PTI government. He noted that few channels were propagating panic for their personal gains. Minister observed that Nawaz Sharif had augmented the level of corruption in politics.

Punjab Information Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Imran Khan had ordered clearing the Media Houses’ dues. He said that he would not let the Ministry’s money be pocketed by the corrupt officers. Minister assured that Imran Khan would get the country rid of thieves. He said that Punjab’s Ministry of Information and Culture would ameliorate the condition of artists and journalists. He said that Media Workers in the Province of Punjab would be provided health cards.

Commenting on Indo-Pak relations Minister of Information said that Pakistan was not afraid of India. Maintaining that Sikhs all over the world were content with Pakistan’s support he predicted that Sikhs would not vote for Modi Sarkar. He said that Imran Khan Government was against terrorism all over the world. Citing Navjot Singh Sindhu he said that Pakistan was a peaceful country.

Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan assured that his ministry would remain in constant touch with PFUJ and vehemently endeavor towards solving the journalists’ problems. Delegates proclaimed that in order to ensure the security and to resolve Media workers’ issues PFUJ would fight all possible legal battles besides protesting and raising a voice from all the platforms.

Delegates while speaking on the occasion demanded that  Federal and Provincial Governments must immediately take measures to solve the predicaments being faced by the Media Industry. Journalists coming from all over the country while speaking at the convention informed about the problems Media workers in their native areas were facing.

A number of resolutions were passed during the convention that was addressed by President PFUJ Rana Mohammad Azeem, PFUJ Secretary General G. M. Jamali, Chairman APNEC Ikram Bukhari, Shehr Bano, Hasan Abbas, Aajiz Jamali, Shahzad Butt, Shahid Chaudhry, Saeed Jan Baloch, Ameen Fitrat, Malik Tauseef, Hameed-ur-Rehman, and others.

Participants of the convention have highly appreciated the work carried out by the present leadership of PFUJ. They warned the owners of Media Houses to stop the forced dismissal of workers. They have urged the Federal and Provincial Governments to take all the stakeholders in confidence while formulating policies. They have also appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the problems of Media workers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Central Elections of PFUJ is scheduled to be held today (Friday 30th of November).
