Global-Warming affects Earth’s tilt on Polar-Axis

MEHWISH

WASHINGTON:  An alteration in the way Earth tilts on its polar axis is being driven by the global warming. This was recently demonstrated in a new study revealed by NASA.

According to the study published in the journal Science Advances, a modification in the allocation of weight on Earth has been found due to the melting ice-sheet of Greenland.

Since 2003 Greenland has lost 600 trillion pounds of ice. West Antarctica loses 275 tonnes and East Antarctica gains 165 trillion tonnes of ice annually, which leads to tilting of earth

“There is nothing to worry about” said Jianli Chen, a senior research scientist at University of Texas, who first pointed the pole shift to climate change in 2013.  ”It is just another interesting effect of climate change,”  he added.
