PITUFFIK SPACE BASE (Greenland): US Vice-President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance landed here on Friday (28th March, 2025) for a visit to military base.
Among others there were National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright in his delegation. It is pertinent to mention here that the visit of Vance was not welcomed by the Copenhagen as his boss Trump has been talking about annexing the strategically placed Greenland maintaining that procurement of the island would augment the international and US security.
“We have to have it…I think the European Union understands it, and if they don’t – we’re going to have to explain it,” said Trump who never ruled out the possibility of the use of force. Meanwhile, Putin said, during an address to Russia’s Arctic Forum Murmansk that America’s plans in relation to Greenland were serious but it was a matter for two specific countries that has nothing to do with Russia.
Putin maintained that the plans of USA had profound historical racines: “And it’s clear that the US will continue to systematically pursue its geo-strategic, military-political and economic interests in the Аrctic.”
