MOSCOW: As Putin roared revenge, Russian authorities have nabbed an Uzbek man (29) Wednesday (18th Dec 2024) in connection with the murder of Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical & Biological Protection Forces, a day earlier.
According to details the suspect, whose name has not been revealed yet, was engaged by Ukrainian Secret Services (SBU) that assassinated Kirillov calling him a legitimate target for war crimes involving banned chemical weapons. It may be recalled that General Igor Kirillov, who was accused by the West of overseeing the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, had been assassinated by means of a bomb fixed on an electric scooter here on 17th Dec 2024.
When general Igor Kirallov left the Moscow building he lived in, the explosive was detonated and the blast killed him and his aide. He was overseeing the Russia’s Timoshenko Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Academy before he was posted in 2017 as the head of Russian army’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops. Russian Foreign Ministry vowed that the perpetrators would be punished sans mercy.
