WHITE HOUSE: US President Donald Trump, while speaking at a dinner with a number of Republican legislators, here Friday (18th July, 2025) said that 5 fighter jets were shot down during Indo-Pak war in May (sans mentioning which side the aircraft belonged to).
President Trump has claimed again and again since 10th day of May that he assisted settling the tension between two nuclear powers. For this he has been nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by certain quarters in Pakistan too!
“Something I’m very proud of … we stopped a lot of wars. A lot of wars. And these were serious, serious wars; would have been going on...
“You had India-Pakistan that was going, and in fact, planes were being shot out of the air. Five, five, four or five, but I think five jets were shot down actually…It was getting worse and worse, wasn’t it? …
“These are two serious nuclear countries and they were hitting each other. It seems like a new form of warfare; you saw it recently, when you looked at what we did in Iran when we knocked out their nuclear capability, totally knocked out.”
Trump, now also known for his War of Tariffs, had promised that his country would do a lot of trade with India and Pakistan provided they stop fighting.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan had claimed of shooting 6 Indian jets down (including 3 IAF-operated Rafales) using PL-15 missiles mounted on Chinese fighter jet J-10.
