WASHINGTON DC: President Donald Trump has been evacuated safely by Secret Service from the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner event, after a gunman (31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, from Torrance, California, now in custody) attempted to enter the Ballroom of Hilton Hotel harboring thousands of guests and exchanged fire with security personnel on Saturday (25th April, 2026) but was subdued by the agents.
Taking to the Social Media President Trump stated: “Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
“Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately. I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room. The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition. We will be speaking to you in a half an hour. I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days. President DONALD J. TRUMP”, he added.
Trump, speaking at the presser after the dinner shooting incident, told that an officer shot was in great safe: “One officer was shot but saved by the fact that he was wearing a, obviously, a very good bulletproof vest.”
Calling the ‘would-be assassin’ a very sick person, the president told that the man charged past a security checkpoint: “We looked at all of the conditions that took place tonight, and I will say, you know, it’s not a particularly secure building.”
Answering to a question he said that he did not think that the shooting had anything to do with the war with Iran: “My impression is he was a lone wolf, whack job. These are crazy people. He’s a crazy people, and they have to be dealt with,” he added.
Cole Tomas Allen, who the law enforcers believe acted alone, was carrying a shotgun, a handgun and a number of knives at the time of the shooting. Interestingly, the accused was a guest at the hotel where the event was being held. He used to teach part-time and developed video games.
Twenty-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Pennsylvania, who attempted to shoot Donald Trump (using a gun that his father purchased legally) during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on 13th July, 2024 evening was gunned down by the security personnel, whereas, the former president of USA escaped with a minor injury in the upper part of his right ear. It may further be recalled that on 22nd Feb this year, security personnel neutralised 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin who drove into the secure perimeter of the President’s resort, when he was in Washington.

Gunshots also wounded Reagan’s Press Secretary James Brady, D.C. police officer Thomas Delahanty, and Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy. Reagan recovered from the incident and visited the hotel several times afterwards.”
