KYIV: For the first time, since the war with Ukraine commenced, Russia targeted a govt building here on Sunday (7th September, 2025).
It is pertinent to mention here that Russia, rejecting the plan of the West apropos deploying foreign troops inside Ukraine (following a truce), had forewarned that its military reckon them as enemy and target such forces. Russia says that it only targeted military and related infrastructure in the strikes.
Terming it the largest attack since Feb, 2022 invasion, Ukraine claimed that Russia launched four ballistic, nine cruise missiles, eight hundred and ten drones overnight, killing four and injuring 44. Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed an appropriate response.
British Defence Secretary John Healey noted that despite Putin entertaining peace talks with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, the Russian president continues to intensify his attacks against Ukraine.
Taking to X the Ukrainian PM Yulia Svyrydenko shared a photo from inside the govt bldg and stated: “This is how the headquarters of Ukraine’s government now looks after this morning’s Russian attack. Our whole team works in this building daily.
“Fortunately, no one was injured. Russian barbarism will not halt the work of Ukraine’s government. The walls will be repaired, they are only bricks, but the lives of our people can’t be restored. In this night’s Russian attack 4 people killed and 44 injured. What is clear is that Russia does not want peace.

“I urge the world to turn outrage over Russian crimes into concrete support for Ukraine. Not for the walls of this building, but to protect our people and communities across the country. We need stronger air defense – more systems and more ammunition – to shield our cities and our energy system as winter approaches.
“We need tougher sanctions that will deprive the aggressor of oil and gas revenues, the very resources funding its terror. Only by standing strong and united can we bring an end to Russian aggression and secure peace.”
