PARIS: French Movie Icon, anti-Islam animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot died Sunday (28th Dec, 2025) at her home in southern France.

Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which was established in 1986, has rescued over 12,000 animals through its “Arche de BB” programme.

Brigitte Bardot Foundation proclaimed on 28th Dec that the actress, who was hospitalised in Oct, has died aged 91. Foundation announced with immense sadness, “the death of its founder and president, Madame Brigitte Bardot, a world-renowned actress and singer, who chose to abandon her prestigious career to dedicate her life and energy to animal welfare and her foundation”.
Born on 28th Sept, 1934, in Paris, Brigitte Bardot, was raised in a traditional rich Catholic household. 1956 movie “And God Created Woman“ transformed her into a star. She also made headlines for her controversial statements against Islam and #MeToo movement. Brigitte Bardot was convicted five times for inciting racial hatred by means of Social Media.
Brigitte Bardot was fined €15,000 for condemning the practice of sacrificing animals by Muslims during Eid-ul-Azha. In a letter to the court BB insisted that she had a right to speak up for animal welfare after publishing remarks in which Brigitte Bardot maintained that she too had a right to speak for animal rights. Once BB lamented that Muslims were destroying France by imposing their ways.
“By frequently lobbying politicians to advance legislation, securing convictions for perpetrators of animal abuse, carrying out rescues every day, and raising awareness among a wide audience, the Foundation has become a global benchmark, the continued success of which Brigitte Bardot ensured”.

Movie aficionados mourned the death of Oscar-winning US acting legend Robert Redford, known for his roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and the Sting, on 16th September.
