KARACHI: Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ismail Rahu, has taken notice of the Pro-VC and Acting VC’s appointments by VCs.
Rahu proclaimed that from now on, Vice Chancellors of government universities will not be able to handover the charge of Pro-VC to anyone of his own accord. Prior approval of the Chief Minister has been made mandatory for every appointment.
All VCs will send a panel of 3 senior professors for vacant posts to the Sindh government with complete records. The minister warned that all the appointments made sans CM’s approval will be considered illegal and could be immediately cancelled or withdrawn.
Rahu held that the action has been taken to eliminate nepotism in the administrative affairs of universities. So that appointments to high positions are made only on merit.
