ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is scheduled to visit Moscow after his sojourn in Oman, has landed here for a short stay on Sunday (26th April, 2026).
It is pertinent to mention here that he has also discussed the ongoing diplomatic processes with the Saudi Foreign Minister during telephonic conversation.
During his stopover in Islamabad, Araghchi will exchange notes with Pakistani officials.
It may be recalled that Irani FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi, took to the X to brief about his earlier stay in Islamabad on 25th April visit: “Very fruitful visit to Pakistan, whose good offices and brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region we very much value. Shared Iran’s position concerning workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran. Have yet to see if the U.S. is truly serious about diplomacy.”
Esmaeil Baqaei, porte parole of the Irani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had earlier proclaimed that no meeting was planned to take place with US delegates during the FM’s 25th April Pakistan visit.
Commenting on the arrival of the delegation from Tehran here on 25th April, Spox Esmaeil Baqaei held: “We arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, for an official visit. FM Araghchi will be meeting with Pakistani high-level officials in concert with their ongoing mediation & good offices for ending American imposed war of aggression and the restitution of peace in our region.”
On the other hand US team, consisting of President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, were also supposed to land in Islamabad (before cancellation of the trip by the President Donald Trump). Many believed their purpose of visit was to hold the 2nd round of talks with Tehran attempting to figure out a way to end the ongoing War.
